Onboarding in research data management has been an issue within the Max Planck Society for some time. We have already discussed this on a few occasions. To address these needs the MPDL is offering three generic RDM onboarding courses for young MPG scientists in spring 2024.
These English-speaking courses are therefore aimed primarily at early career researchers, who are relatively new into the Max Planck Society. These courses are an attempt to see how and whether such generic training offers bring added value or make work easier at the MPIs. The courses are hybrid, i.e. on site and via Zoom. On-site participation is limited. Issuing certificates of participation is possible.
Each course will include a thematic block on MPG Data Services, in which GWDG, MPCDF, DKRZ and MPDL will briefly introduce their research data services. This is of course in addition to the local infrastructures, workflows, best practices etc.
The three dates are:
- 8th February 2024, Biological and Medicine Section, at the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences, Göttingen and via Zoom, https://rdm.mpdl.mpg.de/mpdl-services/rdm-trainings/rdm-onboarding-bm-section-2024/
- 15th February 2024, Human Sciences Section, at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology, Halle and via Zoom Human Sciences Section, https://rdm.mpdl.mpg.de/mpdl-services/rdm-trainings/rdm-onboarding-gsh-section-2024/
- 3rd April 2024, Chemistry, Physics & Technology Section, at the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, and via Zoom, https://rdm.mpdl.mpg.de/mpdl-services/rdm-trainings/rdm-onboarding-cpt-section-2024/
An additional onboarding course will take place prior to our 6th RDM Workshop on 19th March 2024 on site in Heidelberg. This course will be held in German and is primarily aimed at colleagues from the supporting services.
