Description of the MPG RDM conference
Research data management has gained increasing importance within the Max Planck Society in recent years. Therefore, we are meeting for the 8th time. The MPG RDM conference will be held from 3 to 5 Nov 2026, preceded by an onboarding session on Monday 2 Nov 2026.
Such an event thrives particularly on participation from the various institutes. We are therefore seeking contributions for the conference on a wide variety of topics and in various formats.
Such as:
- Data-driven research projects
- Services offered and tools used in different MPIs
- Best practices and experiences in the daily research activities
- Legal aspects related to RDM
- MPG-wide RDM recommendations
Contributions can range from short 5-minute talks to longer 20–30-minute presentations, and we also welcome live demonstrations, posters, market place contributions or other forms of presentation. We welcome submissions of topic requests, additional ideas, contributions, or suggestions for moderators by 30 June 2026, to rdm [at] maxit [dot] mpg [dot] de. Please include a brief description of the proposed contribution and a tentative presentation title.
The conference will take place at the Max Planck Campus in Potsdam-Golm. Many thanks the MPI of Colloids and Interfaces for hosting the conference, also thanks to the MPI of Molecular Plant Physiology and the Albert Einstein Institute for collaborating! Online participation will also be possible. Participation in the conference is free of charge but limited to MPG members. The target audience for the event is all MPG staff. As with the RDM workshops of recent years, a special focus will be on the research support services of the respective institutes. For the first time, the language of this event will be English.
